Daily reflections for 22 – 28 October

·

Wednesday 22 October

Grace always comes first; it is God who calls, not we who earn. When we turn our hearts toward Christ, sin begins to lose its grip, and our lives take on a new shape—one formed by mercy, not fear.

We become free not through strength, but through daily surrender to love.
Romans 6:12–18 (NRSV)

Thursday 23 October

The journey to holiness is not dramatic; it unfolds through small, faithful decisions. When we give ourselves to what is good, our lives slowly bear fruit—patience, kindness, peace. Though the rewards of sin seem immediate, a life given to God fills us with purpose that endures.
Romans 6:19–23 (NRSV)

Friday 24 October

We all feel the tension within us—the desire to do good, and the tendency to fail. Yet this struggle is not a defeat; it is the ground where grace is planted.

When we recognise our need, we are not condemned; we are met by a Saviour who lifts us with compassion.
Romans 7:18–25a (NRSV)

Saturday 25 October

To live in the Spirit is to be transformed from within. It is not a burden, but a gentle reordering of the heart and a turning toward what gives life.

Christ dwells in us not as a judge, but as a presence that brings peace.
Romans 8:1–11 (NRSV)

Sunday 26 October

God listens to the poor, not because they are loud, but because their hearts are open. He does not favour the powerful; he looks with love on the humble and sincere.

When we give without seeking return, and pray with honesty, our lives become a song that rises before God.
Sirach 35:12–14, 16–18 (NRSV)

Monday 27 October

You are not a slave to fear; you are a child of God. The Spirit speaks within you, reminding you that you belong—not because of your achievements, but because of God’s love.

Even in hardship, we are never abandoned; we are heirs to a joy that suffering cannot erase.
Romans 8:12–17 (NRSV)

Tuesday 28 October

God does not call us to walk alone. We are each a living stone, placed with care in a structure far greater than ourselves. In Christ, we find not just peace, but belonging; we are built into a temple where love is the foundation and hope is the mortar.
Ephesians 2:19–22 (NRSV)
