The voice in the wilderness reminds us that we are merely servants; we do not seek the spotlight for ourselves. Our identity is found in Christ; we bridge the gap between the old ways and the new promise. We find joy in preparing the path for others to encounter grace.

The Lamb of God carries the weight of the world; we behold him with eyes of faith and deep gratitude. Baptism is the gateway to a life lived for others; we receive the Spirit to empower our mission of love. We witness to the light that shines in the darkness.

Wisdom leads us across distant lands to find the King; we offer the gold of our service and the incense of our prayer. We return to our daily lives by a different path. The Word sustains us.

The spirit of the Lord rests upon the anointed one; he brings good news to those who are bound by sorrow. We are called to show a year of favor; echoing the promise of liberation and sight.

A plea for pity meets with an outpouring of compassion; we see the barriers of isolation broken down by a single gesture. We are called to be clean in heart and purpose; we seek the restoration of all who have been cast aside. The witness of a changed life speaks louder than words; we carry the news of mercy to every corner of society.

Faith finds a way in the world; we see the roof opened so that the broken may reach the source of life. Forgiveness is the greatest miracle of all and we rejoice in the freedom that comes from being reconciled with God. We take up our mats and walk in the sight of everyone; we are living evidence of a grace that makes us new.

The call to follow reaches the most unlikely places; we see that no one is beyond the reach of God’s invitation. We sit at the table with those who are disadvantaged and learn that mercy is the heart of every actual encounter. The past does not define the future in the kingdom and we follow the one who sees our true worth.

The Spirit descends and remains upon the Lamb of God; we seek that same abiding presence in our own quiet lives. Our mission is to show others the Savior; we find our purpose in witnessing to the truth we have seen.

John 1:29-34

19 Monday, January

The presence of the bridegroom brings a season of joy; we recognize that the old wineskins cannot hold new wine and opportunities God gives. We shed rigid ways to embrace the movement of the Spirit and with our lives, open, ready for ch,ange; we celebrate the vibrant life of Christ’s Spirit in us.

20 Tuesday, January

The Sabbath is made for the benefit of the person; we find our rest in the Lord of all creation. We do not let legalism stifle the work of compassion; we seek to do good even when tradition stands in the way.

21 Wednesday, January

A withered hand is restored in the presence of the law; healing is always the priority of the Gospel. We face critics with the courage of our convictions and choose life over the shadows of resentment. Our work is to bring wholeness to what is broken and in this we stand firm in the mission of mercy.

Mark 3:1-6

22 Thursday, January

Great multitudes follow the healer to the water’s edge; we find ourselves drawn to the source of all life. We seek a quiet boat to find perspective and learn that even in the crowds there is importance in a hidden heart. The nearness of the divine transforms us.

Mark 3:7-12

23 Friday, January

We are chosen for a life of companionship and mission. We go out with our names known in the heart of God; we find our strength in the community of the faithful.

Mark 3:13-19

24 Saturday, January

In the midst of a moving crowd we offer our presence as best we can. We maintain a quiet, steady heart and find peace in being useful to the common good; we let our actions speak for the love that drives us.

Mark 3:20-21

25 Sunday, January

We are called to be people of the dawn. We leave the familiar shores of our past to follow the one who calls us by name; we trust that he will make us ‘fishers of souls’. As we walk through the world announcing that the kingdom our message is one of repentance and hope.

Matthew 4:12-23

26 Monday, January

A house divided against itself cannot stand and so must be careful not to mistake the work of God for the influence of shadows; we pray for the grace of true discernment. Our hearts must be open to the mercy that forgives all as we strive to live in the light of the Holy Spirit.

Mark 3:22-30

27 Tuesday, January

True kinship is found in the doing of God’s holy will and we look to Mary as the perfect model of discipleship as she heard the Word and kept it with a devoted heart.

Mark 3:31-35

28 Wednesday, January

The sower scatters the seed with a generous and hopeful hand; we reflect on the condition of the soil in our own souls. We pray that the cares of the world and desire to be the good ground that yields a hundredfold. Patience is required for the harvest to mature; we trust the hidden growth that happens beneath the surface.

A lamp is not brought into a room to darken it! The light of our faith shines through our quiet deeds. Nothing is hidden, and the transparency of our lives is the witness the world waits to see. Witness is more powerful than words.

A tiny seed can become a great tree where the birds find rest; we never underestimate the power of a small, hidden act of love. We trust in the slow work of God; we offer our humble service and leave the results in his hands.

31 Saturday, January

The wind and the sea obey the voice of the one who brings peace and even our faith is tested in the moments of greatest trial, we find our refuge in the middle of the great storm and do not fear even when the waves break over the boat.
